She left me. I asked her if she wanted to hang out last week and she said that “we needed to talk”. I was naive and thought ‘cool she probably wants to talk about Tony hawks pro skater for the PlayStation’ as I was a huge fan of the game growing up and I thought we had a lot in common.

Is it so strange to think that I might want to date somebody who shares the same loves and experiences as me? But she didn’t want to talk about one of the best selling PlayStation games of all time.

We met at a cafe I know she liked. It was approximately 1.4 miles away from the local skate park and situated across the street from some stone steps I had sometimes seen people grind down on their skateboards. It was where we had our first date actually, in this same cafe. I was watching the lads skate and grind on those steps admiringly thinking, I wish I could do that, when she asked me if I was listening to what she was saying and I apologized as I was not.

Not sure why she became my girlfriend after that to be honest. But it was a nice two weeks. Hell we even had sex a couple of days ago which, as I said just after I came, was totally radical.

But when we met at the cafe she didn’t want to talk about Tony hawks pro skater. She told me very frankly that she didn’t want to ever see me again. I asked why? Is it because she’s worried I might take up skateboarding and dating somebody doing a high risk dangerous hobby is too much for her to handle? She said...

“When we had sex the other night you put on the song superman by goldfinger and came at the exact point it ended. You also said the sex was radical before you fell asleep. It was so depressing I wrote about it on Reddit and it made the front page. Also when I said 'I wanna see what those fingers can do' I didn't mean for you to show me your Tech Deck finger skateboarding skills. I'm honestly scared I might never be aroused ever again.”

“Oh” I said. And after an uncomfortable silence she walked out of the cafe and out of my life.

I lifted my coffee to my mouth and tried to forget (all the sequels to Tony hawks pro skater as they were not very good after the first one and idk what happened to Bam but it’ll probably happen to me.)
